We’re rapidly expanding our portfolio, having launched two fresh events and a brand new awards programme in 2022 alone. And that’s not all; there are more exciting changes on the horizon.

This means we’re in search of a new member of the team to lead us as we head towards the future.

We’re on the lookout for a Business Director – someone who will be accountable for the strategic development of PerformanceIN and our soon to be launched, fresh editorial title for the Partner Economy.

The ideal candidate will have experience of the performance and partner marketing industry and possess an entrepreneurial spirit, commercial acumen and a talent for building lasting relationships.

As you build relationships and work closely with key stakeholders, including the content, marketing, sales and events team, you will play an integral role in defining our content, commercial and audience strategies, as well as establishing structures, processes and partnerships that deliver long term commercial success.

The role can be based in London or elsewhere as we offer hybrid working, with occasional trips to the Bristol office.

The full rundown of everything you need to know is available on LinkedIn. We’re incredibly excited for the future, and we’d love to have you come along with us on the journey.

Back in 1998 (that’s not a typo) when I first dabbled in Affiliate Marketing, working in the industry was a lonely affair. My quest to find others who shared the same interest led me to create a forum, it was called affiliates4u. It was the foundation of what PerformanceIN has become today and I have many lifelong friends who attended our Get2Gethers and events around the country.

Many years ago, as discussion boards fell out of fashion we closed the forum and shifted conversation to Facebook. On reflection it was a little lazy as that’s not the right platform and I feel that we lost the sense of community we once had outside of our annual events.

As we look to refocus in 2022, I’m pleased to say we’ve created a new community on Guild. A platform that was created by eConsultancy founder Ashley Friedlein to serve B2B communities and we think it does an exceptional job.

Collaborative problem solving and support

The knowledge we have within our industry and the willingness of the community to help their peers is something that should make us proud. Our new community already boasts 250+ pioneers of Affiliate & Performance Marketing from around the world.

The group has a no-nonsense approach to self-promotion and everyone is expected to post transparently.

Membership

Access to the community is free, and what’s more we pay for it so it’s also ad free. We also like it better than slack as it encourages more meaningful and in-depth conversation.

To join, you’ll need to be a member of PerformanceIN and you’ll be provided with a unique link to join the community via email or you can visit this page (once signed in)

I look forward to seeing you in the group!

As each day passes more of you will be departing for your Christmas break. Whatever you decide to do in these difficult circumstances, stay safe and well.

We have much to look forward to for 2021. With two new Journalists starting with us, in addition to four further recruits across the business. We don’t intend to slow down and look forward to presenting a fresh editorial strategy and direction for PerformanceIN during Q1.

I know many of you will be wondering about our events next year having pivoted to digital our awards and conferences. What I can say is that they will be taking place, we just don’t yet know, whether they will be back at Grosvenor House and Old Billingsgate or presented via a virtual studio.

We are confident that by October we’ll be able to run PI LIVE London, The Influencer Marketing Show and the International Performance Marketing Awards. However, we will continue to monitor COVID vaccine progress and government advice for PI LIVE Advanced and the Performance Marketing Awards ceremony.

Whatever fate decides, it won’t stop us recognising exceptional work. That’s why we’ll be releasing the 2021 Performance Marketing Awards categories in January and we’ll be extending the deadlines for a significant period.

There will be half-a-dozen new categories including awards to recognise how stakeholders are driving the industry forward and ensuring the wellbeing of their teams. There will also be a renewed focus on publisher activity.

The partnerships team will be reaching out with opportunities in the New Year to cover all bases.

I’d like to thank each and every one of our partners who have supported us during the pandemic. As an events company we’ve been hit hard but are in great shape and eager to make 2021 a success.

Until then, we wish you a very happy holiday period – stay safe and well and I’m sure you’ll be joining myself and others on New Year’s Eve with an extra-large glass to celebrate the beginning of 2021!

PI LIVE and Awards Pivot to Online Events https://performancein.com/news/2020/07/07/pi-live-awards-pivot-to-online-events/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=pi-live-awards-pivot-to-online-events Tue, 07 Jul 2020 11:00:12 +0000 https://performancein.com/?p=57444 Thank you for your support and patience over the last few months as the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) evolved.

The post PI LIVE and Awards Pivot to Online Events appeared first on PerformanceIN.

]]>
In good faith earlier in the year, we postponed a number of our events to Q3. It is however becoming clear that as a direct consequence of the ongoing impact of COVID-19 and social distancing guidance, we feel we are unable to safely execute events to the standard you’ve grown used to over the years.

Unlike some more traditional exhibitions, our events focus heavily on networking and face-to-face interactions; this poses a significant risk.

As a partner we also want you to feel that your financial investment is well looked after, and drawn down at a time that will provide maximum impact and ROI.

That is why we’re announcing the news that both PI LIVE and the Influencer Marketing Show in London will be replaced this year with two brand new virtual shows which will take place in Q4.

The next physical edition of PI LIVE London will take place on October 19-20 2021 at Old Billingsgate, with the Influencer Marketing Show being held exclusively on October 21 2021.

All-new digital show

Although the physical events won’t take place at Old Billingsgate this year, we are making significant progress executing two exciting new virtual events which will run later in the year.

We’ve been working incredibly hard behind the scenes over the last few weeks to ensure we can deliver successful events that meet your objectives during these challenging times.

You can expect our industry leading agenda, packed with insightful and actionable content coupled with bespoke networking opportunities.

If you’d like to get involved with the show please contact Drew Cameron, our Sales Director.

The Performance Marketing Awards

Award ceremonies have taken a big hit due to COVID-19, with table numbers drastically reduced and main features such as the drinks reception and after-party unable to run due to government restrictions.

Therefore the Performance Marketing Awards will no longer be taking place this year at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

However, we can confirm the 14th edition of the awards will now take place online with the worthy winners revealed via a special live broadcast to be scheduled in August.

For those who have booked a table or sponsorship, we’ll reach out to you as soon as possible in the coming days to run through your options.

International Performance Marketing Awards: Entries open and deadlines extended

We’re also excited to share that entries for the fifth annual International Performance Marketing Awards are now open along with our brand new online portal, powered by eventsforce, to submit your entry.

Deadlines have been extended right up until September 3.

Visit the website and download the entry kit for more information.

There will be no physical ceremony this year, with a special live presentation being scheduled. Extra focus will be given to winners via the Book of the Night and coverage via PerformanceIN throughout the year.

Help us shape the events

To our partners, sponsors and delegates, your feedback and insight is always valued. As we prepare our digital events and to help us execute everything that meets your objectives, we want to invite you to complete our quick survey. For each survey completed, we’ll donate £5 to mental health charity mind.org.uk.

FAQs

For more details on how these announcements may affect you please review our individual event FAQs.

Thank you

Lastly, and most importantly, a huge thank you to our exhibitor partners, sponsors and delegates across all our events as we continue to adapt with the Coronavirus pandemic situation.

We hope you understand our decisions but we’re very excited to work with everyone as we prepare, develop and launch our new digital shows that meet all your performance marketing requirements.

We have more information to announce in the coming weeks. In the meantime, do sign up to our newsletter to stay updated with the latest news from our events and more.

During this challenging time, focus on existing clients is important, but equally critical to future success will be the recognition that the online sector and specifically performance marketing will bounce back with renewed vigour and increased market share.

New consumers will embrace online shopping and others shift and increase their spend from physical to online, whilst advertisers move budgets from OOH and offline to measurable online channels.

This provides us all with an opportunity for new business and growth.

We know that entering awards such as the IPMAs not only provides a means to collaborate and focus for you, your clients and your team, but also invaluable USPs when at your next tender or virtual sales presentation.

We’ve made a few changes to ensure that entering the fifth annual International Performance Marketing Awards is as straightforward as possible by levelling up, simplifying the process, and giving you a little more time to enter.

Moving to online entries

From today all entries for our future awards will be handled entirely online. We’ve levelled up the process by no longer allowing entries to be sent to the design team. Instead each section will be entered via text field with a 300 word limit.

You’ll be able to revisit your entry as many times as you like and even change post submission as long as it’s within your deadline period.

A single piece of supporting evidence in PDF form may be uploaded if desired, giving you some creative freedom.

Extended entry periods

We’ll be launching the new online portal, powered by eventsforce in early June. Until then, the entry kit will be essential reading to plan your entry strategy over your next Zoom, Google hangout or Microsoft Teams meeting.

We’ll also be pushing back entry deadlines by one month giving you until August 16 to get your entries to us.

Top tips for entry

The entry kit provides everything you need, including the criteria the judges will score entries, FAQ’s and out top tips and mistakes to avoid.

The Rise of De-Duplication and Why Affiliates Need to Fight Back https://performancein.com/news/2019/04/15/rise-de-duplication-and-why-affiliates-need-fight-back/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rise-de-duplication-and-why-affiliates-need-fight-back Mon, 15 Apr 2019 11:35:21 +0000 http://performancein.com/news/2019/04/15/rise-de-duplication-and-why-affiliates-need-fight-back/ The quality of de-duplication transparency for an advertisers affiliate programme varies substantially from network to network. It’s something that’s really important for affiliates to understand as it has a direct correlation with the commissions they receive.

The post The Rise of De-Duplication and Why Affiliates Need to Fight Back appeared first on PerformanceIN.

]]>

An advertiser may choose to de-dupe publisher sales either completely or partially from a number of digital advertising channels. Some you would expect, i.e. PPC on Brand. The practice has been around for a decade, however, over the last few years, a whole heap of internal activity and other channels have come into the picture.

A quick check on the AWIN interface which does a good job on transparency shows the following for the ASOS UK affiliate programme.

Sample de-duplication policy.

Whilst I applaud this transparency, it shows a worrying trend especially when many networks and advertisers are looking to reward early funnel affiliates and have even gone to the length of rewarding by tenancy to compensate an overly aggressive attribution and/or de-duplication model.

Agencies are not always on the Affiliates Side

This excerpt from the affiliate cockpit this morning which you should take with a pinch of salt to some extent could well be believable as advertisers look to drive down costs.

Of course, there are some brilliant affiliate management agencies out there with a more holistic view. But we’ve witnessed too many scenarios where the client side wins without full representation from affiliates.

What can affiliates do to combat de-duplication

Often affiliate networks themselves won’t know the full picture, therefore if you are generating significant revenues for the advertiser, I’d certainly ask them for complete transparency and then deep-dive into each of the channels or internal activities de-duped.

What defines a direct partnership

In the example above from ASOS it mentions ‘Direct Partnerships’ and ‘In-house Publisher Programme’ if this includes the top 10 publishers creamed off to a SaaS platform with different attribution, then we all potentially have something to worry about.

Of course, we don’t know that and it’s a huge assumption, however, it does highlight the lack of transparency and the power agencies have who dictate strategy over the rest of the eco-system. There must be a point where affiliates and the other stakeholders take note and fight back with a combined voice.

This could become more important considering the acquisition of CJ Affiliates parent company Epsilon a Data-Driven Marketing powerhouse by Publicis Groupe this week.

The May 1st submission deadline may feel like a long way away, however with a new advisory board meeting in London to discuss the curation of the agenda, the deadline is a hard one so don’t miss the boat!

Dedicated to Performance Marketing

The main stage and Dome stage will be dedicated to Performance Marketing this year, with all Influencer Marketing topics moved to its own stage on the second floor. This gives us the option to programme a wide selection of session formats. In addition to a number of keynote presentations; we are looking for panel discussions, fireside chats, solo presentations and for those confident enough to debate – Performance Punch will make its return after a popular debut to tackle industry issues head-on.

Performance Punch

Preferred content

We prefer sessions to go into granular detail, with actionable insights; The more advanced the better. We are certainly not looking for platform demonstrations. If you’re able to offer guidance and strategy to our key demographics on their performance marketing investment then we would love to hear from you. Our online submission form is the only way to submit your proposal. Please do not email the team as it helps to keep everything centralised, and we wouldn’t want anything falling through the cracks.

Pitches to go to a public vote

For the first time, the advisory board will meet in London from May to curate the agenda. At this stage up to 10 sessions will go to a public vote, with the top 5 making the cut. Any pitches who get to this stage will have the opportunity to tweak their pitch before gaining support from the industry.

Stage MC opportunities

Our industry savvy stage hosts make a real difference by introducing the speakers, moderating Slido and ensuring the very best questions are asked during the session. A number of opportunities exist. If you’re interested in raising your industry profile then reach out to the team to express your interest and we’ll get back to you.

Good luck with your preparation and remember to review the PI LIVE website for full submission guidelines.
